Attendants' Responsibilities
MAID OR MATRON OF HONOR
• Responsible for her own gown and accessories
• Helps arrange bridal shower
• Keeps a record of shower and wedding gifts
• Acts as official witness
• Unofficially calms the bride’s nerves
• Helps bridesmaids on wedding day
• Holds bride’s bouquet and possibly gloves during the ceremony
• Rearranges train before recessional
• Cares for bride’s things at ceremony and reception
• Assists the bride when changing to her going-away apparel
BRIDESMAIDS
• Generally responsible for their own gowns
• Assist in all pre-wedding festivities
• Wrap small reception gifts (optional)
• Fill cups with confetti, rice or rose petals to throw for the getaway
• Decorate the cars
FLOWER GIRL
• Precedes the bride, tossing paper petals or fresh flower petals along the aisle
• Dress complements the bridesmaids’ dresses
BEST MAN
• Responsible for his own attire
• In charge of groom arriving on time
• Sees that ushers’ functions run smoothly
• Acts as official witness
• Gives toast and special speeches at ceremony and reception
• Gives the officiant’s fee (in a sealed envelope)
• Keeps rings, license and honeymoon tickets in a safe place
• Acts as toastmaster at the bridal table
• Plans for reception exit transportation
USHERS
• Responsible for their own attire
• Involved in all ceremony festivities
• Greet all guests at the ceremony, ask which family they represent and seat them accordingly. Bride’s family and friends sit on the right of the aisle and the groom's on the left (facing altar)
• Usually two of the ushers unroll the aisle runner after the bride’s mother is seated
RING BEARER
• Walks down the aisle carrying the ring, or substitute, secured to a satin pillow
